Fredericton Record Expo 2023
January 21, 2023 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday January 21st, vinyl collectors will have the chance to flip through the sale bins of established record stores and those of other fellow collectors, all under one roof, for the first time in Fredericton. As part of Shivering Songs, festival organizers are pleased to announce the inaugural Fredericton Record Expo hosted at The CAP.
The Cap and The Tipsy Muse have teamed up to present this event, and they see it as a way to further enhance the festival experience for music fans in the city.
“With so many already taking in live music that weekend, by offering this pop-up styled expo, we feel it’s simply adding another level to the festival experience,” says Rob Pinnock, co-owner of The Tipsy Muse Café.
“Vinyl is the only physical music format which has shown growth over the last decade, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Collecting has been a huge part of that revival. The early excitement around the expo has been encouraging.”
Setting this apart from other record expos, is the live music component which surrounds it. Running in conjunction with Shivering Songs allows for unique opportunities for artists to not only set up to sell their own merchandise, but to also potentially perform stripped down acoustic sets.
“We feel the excitement and energy that goes with a popular music festival makes for ideal conditions to sell records. Plus it’s a great social angle to the festival, added Pinnock. “It will be the meeting place for the weekend.”
