FROSTival Downtown Gallery Hop

Gather your friends together for a winter evening of gallery hopping in downtown Fredericton. View the latest exhibitions, meet the artists and gallery owners and directors and enjoy light refreshments and music. Participating galleries include Gallery 78, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, The Artisan District, Gallery on Queen, The George Fry Gallery, the gallery spaces at Charlotte Street Arts Centre, plus a pop up FROSTival exhibit upstairs at The Cap by Capital Arts!
Gallery admissions are free of charge during the gallery hop.
Here’s what to expect at each location:
- Fire and Ice – Step into a world of contrasts at the *Fire and Ice* art show. This dynamic exhibition showcases a vibrant collection of works exploring the interplay of warm and cool tones. 362 Queen St, upstairs above the Cap, for an evening of art, free refreshments, live painting and community spirit.
- Gallery on Queen – TBA
- George Fry Gallery – New Brunswick College of Craft & Design students are exhibiting a new photography show called “Perspectives”. Photography activities through the evening plus refreshments and snacks for visitors.
- The Artisan District – Darcy Hunter, a Fredericton-based textile artist will develop a unique “FROSTival” piece on site (sewing machine in tow), with help from Gallery Hop visitors to the shop. This collaborative effort will be created during the course of the evening. Participating visitors can enter for a chance to win the finished piece! Plus, artists featured at The Artisan District will be on site to chat, and as always, expect some goodies!
- At Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Participate in a beading on felt art activity facilitated by Kira Tecu and an acoustic musical performance by Ted Parrot and Ben Buchanan at 6 p.m. in the Harrison McCain Pavillion. The Beaverbrook Boutique will be offering a limited time 15% off sale, and a large book sale. Entrance is free.
- Gallery 78 – Artist talk and demonstration, create your own Felted Heart Pin for Valentine’s Day, and try Card Making! Explore the group show “Winter Welcome”: As winter envelopes the Maritimes, Gallery 78’s walls are adorned with the dichotomies of the season. Deep blues and snowy sceneries surround us, contrasting with our cravings for colour, vibrancy, and warmth. Explore the eclectic selection of artwork from Jennifer Pazienza, Deanna Musgrave, Amber Leger, Richard Montpetit, Matthew Collins, Peter Salmon, Stephen May, Céline Genest, and more!
- Charlotte Street Arts Centre – Explore a stunning exhibition of paintings and drawings by Gaetanne Lavoie, who holds two MFA degrees from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and the New York Academy of Art. Plus, enjoy a collection of work created by newcomer youth organized by the Multicultural Association of Fredericton entitled Restart: New Visions, New Voices. CSAC artist in residence Charles Harding will be on site live-mixing some of the sound collage compositions he has created over his eight month residency. While visiting, enjoy pizza from Milda’s, treats and refreshments.
